lightbulb The Basics
Word Search is a classic puzzle where a grid of letters hides a list of words. Your goal is to find every word in the list by scanning the grid and selecting the letters that spell each word. Words can run in any direction — horizontally, vertically, or diagonally — and can read either forwards or backwards.
Each puzzle has a theme (like "Ocean", "Space", or "Kitchen") that ties all the hidden words together. Use the theme as a mental guide to help you anticipate what you're looking for.
touch_app Selecting Words
On desktop: Click on the first letter of a word and drag to the last letter, then release. A preview highlight follows your cursor as you drag so you can see exactly which letters you're selecting.
On mobile: Touch the first letter and slide your finger to the last letter. The selection snaps to the nearest valid straight line — horizontal, vertical, or diagonal — so you don't need to be perfectly precise.
If the letters you selected match a hidden word (or its reverse), the word is marked as found with a coloured marker highlight. If not, the selection simply disappears — no penalty, just keep trying.

tips_and_updates Tips & Strategies
- 1. Start with the longest words. They're easier to spot because they span more of the grid, and finding them first eliminates letters from consideration.
- 2. Scan for uncommon letters first. Letters like Q, X, Z, or J appear less frequently. If a word contains one, find that letter in the grid and check outward in all directions.
- 3. Work row by row, then column by column. Systematically scan rather than jumping around — this helps catch horizontal and vertical words you might otherwise miss.
- 4. Don't forget backwards and diagonals. On harder difficulties, words can read in reverse. If you see the ending of a word, try dragging backward.
- 5. Use the theme. Knowing the theme helps your brain pattern-match. If the theme is "Ocean", your mind will naturally look for wave-related letter combinations.
